When dreams and the waking world collide, how do
we know what is real? Janus Silang and the Creature
of Tábon tells the chilling tale of one boy’s courageous
actions in a world of shadows and terror—and his struggle
to overcome a growing evil.
Janus is like most teenage boys—arguing with his
parents, wishing he had a girlfriend, and playing video
games constantly. Especially one where the players battle
monsters from Philippine folklore. It’s all very ordinary—until
one day, everything falls apart.
During an online tournament at a local internet café, all the players fall dead except for Janus. The
horror deepens as deaths multiply across the country. Janus is contacted by a stranger, a survivor of
the tournament like himself, who asks for his help to solve the mystery. Along the way, he discovers a
hidden truth about the game he has been playing and its connection with a nightmarish creature from
the ancient caves at Tábon that threatens to destroy everything he holds dear.
Adapted from the Philippine National Book Award-winning novel, Janus Silang and the Creature
of Tábon takes the reader on a journey of discovery as Janus learns the truth about the realm of
mythical creatures which surrounds us, and how he and his family are connected to a magical past.
